We are the High Seas Drifters!
A world champion sailboat racing team from Montana.
Our next goal is ALASKA, racing in the infamous dirtbag R2AK. A strenuous undertaking going from Port Townsend, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska, that will no doubt drive its participants to certain madness.
We, the Team High Seas Drifters, are an amateur sports team based out of Wilsall, MT, competing in the 2022 Race to Alaska (R2AK), a unique non-motorized sporting event pitting all types of watercraft in a 750-mile endurance race from Port Townsend, WA, to Ketchikan, AK.
What is R2AK? Think of the Alaska gold rush occurring in 2022!
R2AK has few rules. No motors. No support or supply drops en route are allowed. All entrants must pass a waypoint at Bella Bella, BC., before continuing to Ketchikan, AK. There are no handicaps.
Team High Seas Drifters competed in R2AK 2019, finishing a respectable 10th. R2AK 2020 got canceled due to Covid.
In 2021, an alternate race/route (WA360) was run within US waters due to the closed Canadian border. Team High Seas Drifters won WA 360 in a stunning upset!
